My studio is located on the third floor of a former watch factory in Yerevan, once an integral part of the Soviet industry. While the lower levels now host various workshops, the third floor, once abandoned, has been refurbished by artists like myself. It now houses both workshops and a large exhibition space, breathing new life into the old building.
Invited by Nairi Khatchadourian to contribute to an exhibition organized on the third floor, I delved into the remnants of the watch factory, exploring its history and essence.
This photo-object, made from metal sheets, serves as a direct reflection of the factory's journey. Inspired by brutalist architecture, it incorporates images taken from the remnants of the factory. As we reflect on the disappearance of so many things, it raises the question: how can something reappear?
